Emotional Education: Detoxing

 

I know when we think of feelings we usually think of them as coming from our minds or our hearts, right? Many of our feeling-producing and "regulating emotions" neurotransmitters (fancy word for those chemicals like serotonin and dopamine) are actually in our Guts! About 90% of our bodies serotonin is produced in the gut! Serotonin is the master regulator, responsible for so much of our emotional well-being!

We are spiritual, physical, mental, chemical, emotional beings and everything is connected! If you are trying a detox or cleanse in the New Year here are some supports and helpers to aid your emotions while detoxing! -Eryn Jones

  • JuvaCleanse or DiGize, + Carrier oil, over the stomach

  • Diffusing Citrus Fresh

  • Taking a walk. One of my favorite health-blogger’s says this about walking: “Walking is my Prozac!” Taking a walk where we are doing low-impact bilateral stimulation (right, left, right, left) can also increase serotonin levels in our bodies.

  • Self Care: take a bath, give yourself a facial, get a massage- huge serotonin producer!! Epsom Salt Baths are also great detoxing aid. Try a bath with Peace & Calming or Thieves (a couple drops/ cup of epsom salts) for extra relaxation and detoxing help!
