Hosting A Favorite Things Party

I have always loved the idea of a "Favorite Things Party" and right now is a perfect time of year for this! This idea originates from the Oprah show. She had a tradition on her show called "Favorite Things" and would give away her favorite things to the entire audience. People have been hosting favorite things parties ever since! -Katie Logan

Here are some tips how to host your own:

INVITE

  • Invite 10-15 people to keep an intimate & fun atmosphere!

  • Explain the idea of the party & set a budget.

  • Set a dress code like ugly sweater or PJ party!

  • Another fun idea is to ask your guests to bring their favorite appetizer or dessert to make it extra festive!

HOW TO

  • Each guest will bring their favorite thing within the budget (it can be anything from lip gloss, favorite book, bath bomb, etc).

  • They are to bring 2-3 of the same item wrapped.

  • When everyone arrives, have them write their name on 3 slips of paper and place it in a bowl.

  • Have each person draw a number.

  • To begin, start with number one and when each number is drawn, the guest with that numbers will explain why the item is their favorite.

  • Then they will draw 3 names out of the bowl and give them those 3 people their favorite thing.

  • Unlike a White Elephant party, there is no stealing or freezing but there is usually some swapping going on at the end of the night for extra fun!

WHAT TO PROVIDE

  • Providing a gift bag for each guest to put their gifts in is a nice touch

  • Great music, fun drinks and anything else to make the atmosphere festive!

What would you bring to a favorite things party? Have you been to one?
