Turn your Shower into a Spa
One of my favorite things is a long, hot shower, especially when I have oils diffusing and steam going! Creating a spa-like space in our bathroom has made such a great difference, and it was so easy to do! -Rebecca McClelland
TURN ON YOUR DIFFUSER
It sounds like a no-brainer, but take the extra moment to fill and fire up your diffuser! The combo of steam + oils is sooooo good. I love powerful oils like Raven, RC, Eucalyptus, etc. Here are a few of my go-to combs:
Breathe Easy: Raven, Lemon, Thieves
Aveda: Rosemary, Eucalyptus, Lemon
Spa Day: Lavender, Lemon, Raven
Fresh & Clean: Lemon Verbena, Ylang Ylang, Eucalyptus, Lemon
Wellness Check: Thieves, Orange, RC
MAKE A EUCALYPTUS SWAG
Another simple idea is to grab some fresh eucalyptus (I find it at Trader Joes), tie it together with twine and hang it over your shower head! The steam will release the natural oils in the fresh eucalyptus. Just make sure to switch it out every few months and to discard if you see any black on the leaves. We use ours as kindling for the fireplace!
SHOWER STEAMERS
Think bath bombs for the shower! Simply place one in the corner where it gets a little water but not direct. I love the Easy Breeze Shower Steamers from YL (you had me at Peppermint + Eucalyptus!) or you can make your own!
2 cups baking soda
1 cup citric acid
1/2 cup corn starch
40 drops peppermint oil
40 drops eucalyptus
Witch Hazel in a spray bottle
Silicone mold
In a bowl, mix the citric acid, baking soda, and cornstarch, then add in the EOs. Spritz some witch hazel onto the top of the powder mixture. Mix the witch hazel in quickly, spritz some more on top, mix again, and repeat until the mixture packs together easily. Make sure you don’t get it too moist or the mixture will begin to fizz. When the mixture holds together when you squeeze it, it’s ready to pack into the molds. Fill the molds and press down with your hands to pack in well. Once the molds are all filled, flip them over onto a clean, hard surface and tap the bottom to release the steamers. Allow them to dry for at least 24 hours before use.
