Planning Winter Workouts
Here are some tips to making workouts happen when the weather is cold and more time is spent indoors.
BEFORE WORKING OUT
Plan it! Add it to your planner just as you would any other appointment to make sure it happens.
Wear reflective clothing, shoes with good traction, layers and be sure to cover your head & hands to stay warm.
ALTERNATIVE EXERCISES - HAVE FUN!
Building a snowman burns 285 calories per hour.
Having a snowball fight burns 319 calories per hour.
Making snow angels burns 214 calories per hour.
Shoveling snow burns 340 calories per hour.
STAY WARM
If you live in a colder part of the country, be careful that you don't cool down too fast post-workout. Head inside to stretch and treat your sore muscles with some Orthosport massage oil.
STAY HYDRATED
Be sure to continue to drink half your body weight in water throughout the day. A great way to enhance your water is to add a drop of citrus fresh vitality oil to your water bottle.
