Emotional Education : Home School Helpers
I have been homeschooling for over 5 years now. Here are some of my tips on homeschooling with essential oils! -Eryn Jones
**Rhythm **is one of my main focuses as a mom and homeschool teacher. If we have rhythm, things can go awry, get out of sync, but then there is the opportunity to teach what is called Social-Emotional-Learning, which are the strategies for bringing things back into a calm state when things get too tough, chaotic, hard, etc.
Rhythm is also helpful because it means we don't have to try and set up our day to "not fail". We can go ahead and assume there will be hard things, BUT we know that we have many strategies to help when things get tough- like circle breathing with EOs!
EOs also help us establish rhythm and routine throughout the school day, which helps our kids feel safe and supported!
HERE'S HOW:
We use alerting oils to help wake us up in the morning and be more productive. And also if we decide to do work after lunch we need to re-awaken our bodies from that mid-day slump. Oils that help Awaken and Alert:
Cedarwood (helps alert AND calm AND FOCUS!)
Vetiver (also like Cedarwood!)
think any spicy, herb-y oils
We also use oils to calm down after a particularly hard topic (math causes stress in our home- you homeschool moms feel me!) or a time when they just came in from running outside! Having rhythms throughout the day of alerting and calming down help the homeschool day go much, much better!
Oils that help Calm when you need it:
Stress Away
Citrus Fresh, any Citrus oils really!
Frankincense
Gathering
Valor
Peace + Calming
Copaiba
Geneyus (also great for focusing and alerting too! Some oils can do the magic of both!)
think anything citrus or floral!

If you homeschool, what are some of your survival tools? What makes the day go a little bit smoother for you? Would love to hear your favorite homeschooling EOs!
