DIY Cooling Cloths

I'm so excited to share this simple trick with you guys especially as we head into the weekend. We spend a lot of of our summer outside despite the heat: grilling yummy foods, at the park or exploring a new hiking trail, hanging out by any kind of water including the sprinkler, gardening & soaking up the sunshine. But gosh it gets hot out there!

I love having cooling cloths on hand. Make up a few ahead of time and keep them in your fridge - grab them as needed. You can also throw some in your cooler as you head out for your next adventure. I know your friends and family will love them too!

FOR COOLING CLOTHS:

  • a large bowl or roasting pan

  • wash cloths

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 6-8 drops of your favorite cooling oils like peppermint, eucalyptus or spearmint. You could also use oils like lavender and gentle baby for little ones:)

HOW:

  • Fill your basin with cool water and add your salt and oils.

  • Mix gently until the salt is dissolved.

  • Soak wash cloths in the bowl for a few minutes (or longer - you can soak them and walk away if needed!).

  • Next, ring out the cloths and fold/roll them to your liking.

  • Place the cloths in a storage container or on a plate and refrigerate for at least an hour. You can also freeze them if you're planning to put them in a cooler to use later in the day.

  • Take them out when you're ready.

These feel amazing placed on your forehead and the back of your neck! Such a nice treat in the heat of the day.

How are you spending your weekend?
