Emotional Education : The Liver

 

Let's change it up a bit for Emotion Ed Wednesdays and chat about helping our emotions by supporting certain parts of our bodies. Last one was The Kidneys, this week: The Liver! -Eryn Jones

Our Liver is very important! It filters out the blood from our digestive systems as well as detoxifies our bodies from chemicals/ pollutants/ drugs/ etc. Or liver is also connected to certain emotions.

Traditional Chinese Medicine claims that the main emotion associated with the liver is Anger.

Other emotions associated with the liver are: Feeling Stubborn, Feeling rage, and Resentment. Many eastern practitioners also claim that low-functioning liver/ gall bladder can be due to years of held in anger and frustration and when the anger is finally released it can produce manic behavior. Has anyone ever rage-cleaned their house? (I may or may not have!)

So what does this mean for our emotions and where to essential oils come in?

Well, certain oils contain compounds to support the liver specifically. Anger is also a protective emotion, so by supporting your liver with essential oils you can help keep anger in balance and free your body up to process what was lying underneath the anger too . Simply apply, inhale, or diffuse the following EOs.
