Emotional Education : Giving & Receiving Care

This past year, with all of it's trauma, change, and turmoil, I have spend a lot of time thinking about giving and receiving care. The basic things humans do to keep thriving and growing. And maybe, right now, we all need a little help in this area too. -Eryn Jones

Did you know that we all lean towards a different attachment style? A different "bent" in how we give and receive care?

  • Some of us avoid and repress our emotions while avoiding others. (Avoidant)

  • And some of us tend to want to engage others in helping us with our own emotions instead of taking personal responsibility for them or we take too much responsibility in "fixing" others we love. (Entangled)

The oils listed below can help if we have one particular bent or if we swing back and forth between the two. Stressful times can push us further towards one or the other! I've listed them out with some emotions they are good for as well if you are wondering where you fall. I like to wear them as a perfume or cologne of the day, diffuse, or simply keep them handy to inhale 10-12 times.

OILS TO HELP WITH LETTING GO (WHEN FEELING TOO ENTANGLED):

OILS TO HELP WITH RECEIVING MORE (WHEN WE FEEL CLOSED OR AVOIDANT):

  • Lavender for fears of abandonment

  • Abundance for fear that you will not have enough support

  • Valor (yes for both because we all feel the risk!)

  • Copaiba for opening us up to receive

  • Lemon for a sense of needs fulfilled

Natural "Avoiders" may want to use oils to help receive!

Natural "Over-givers" may want to use the oils to give themselves proper care and support too!
