Oil Infused Recipe : Iced Sugar Cookies
Happy Holidays y’all! This is the last recipe I’m going to share for 2020 which is hard to believe. I’ve loved finding and adapting these to include oils and I have so many more fun ones for 2021! I don’t know about you but this year I’m craving simple, so while I am sharing a recipe I found and love, you can add Vitality oils to your favorite sugar cookie recipe you were already going to make. At the end of the post, I’ll share some links to some other good ones too! -Lauren Dunaway
COOKIE INGREDIENTS
2 ½ cups flour (all-purpose or GF)
1 cup butter, softened
3 oz cream cheese, soft (I’m going to sub dairy-free)
1 cup of sugar
1 large egg
¼ tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
1-2 drops of your favorite Vitality oil! Some ideas to try Peppermint, Cinnamon Bark, Lemon, Ginger, or Orange!
ICING INGREDIENTS
3 cups confectioners’ sugar
½ cup butter softened
2 ½ tsp vanilla extract
2-3 tablespoons heavy cream
Optional 2 drops of the oil that you used in the cookies or a fun pairing!
INSTRUCTIONS
In a large bowl, cream butter, cream cheese, sugar, and salt until light and fluffy
Beat in the egg and vanilla and Vitality oil drops
Gradually add in the flour
Refrigerate the dough covered for 2-3 hours or until firm enough to roll
When ready to cook preheat the oven to 350 degrees
On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to ½ inch thickness and cut with floured cookie cutters!
Place 1 inch apart on baking sheets and bake 4-5 minutes maximum (key to keeping them soft!)
Cool on pans for 5 minutes and then move to wire racks to cool completely
Add all icing ingredients to a mixer and beat until fluffy!
When cookies are cool ice and add a lot of sprinkles
This recipe is from Amanda and Anna Kloots who I’ve loved following this year! I also found this great one that is GF/DF or like I said just add 1-2 drops of your favorite Vitality oil to the batter or icing for your favorite sugar cookies!
