Oil Infused Recipe : Frankincense Cookies
Okay, when I saw this recipe on the Young Living New Zealand blog I knew I had to share it with y’all! Never in a million years would I think to put Frankincense Vitality in a cookie, but here we are and it sounds delicious! And yes, you’re welcome I converted the Celsius to Fahrenheit for all of us who need that . -Lauren Dunaway
COOKIE INGREDIENTS
2/3 cups all-purpose flour (can sub coconut or GF flour)
½ cup butter
2 tbsp maple syrup
2 tbsp organic white sugar (optional)
½ tsp vanilla extract
pinch of sea salt
1 -2 drops of Frankincense Vitality
DRIZZLE INGREDIENTS
¼ cup dark (or white) chocolate
1 drop Frankincense Vitality
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Place the flour in a medium size bowl and cut in the butter using a pastry cutter or 2 knives until the mixture forms pea sized pieces.
Add maple syrup, sugar (if using), vanilla extract, sea salt and 1-2 drops of Frankincense Vitality and mix together until smooth
Divide into 16 balls, place them on the baking sheet with ample space between and gently flatten with a fork forming the shortbreads.
Bake for 8-10 minutes (or a little longer, if needed, being careful not to burn), then remove from oven to cool.
Meanwhile melt the chocolate in a double boiler. When melted completely, remove from heat, but leave the pan with the melted chocolate in the warm water.
When slightly cooled, add the Frankincense Vitality and stir well, taste and add another drop, if desired.
When the shortbread cookies are completely cooled drizzle the melted chocolate over them with a spoon and let the chocolate set before storing. You can also dip half of a cookie in the chocolate instead of drizzling.
Another fun part about these is that you can customize them to what you like/need by using white chocolate instead of dark or making them paleo! You can use the white sugar or not, or make a maple syrup glaze to go on top.
