DIY : Rainbow Diffuser Keychain

 

I came across this DIY and had to share it! I can’t wait to make these and my girls are so excited too. So so cute. I have the supplies needed and instructions listed below. SUPPLIES:

  • Rope (Hobby Lobby has spools in the fabric department with the ribbon)

  • Embroidery floss (the kind we made bracelets with as kids)

  • Thin wire, AKA beading wire

  • Lava beads (this is where you put the oil to diffuse)

  • Keychain

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Cut 3 pieces of rope, 3 different sizes about 1/4 to 1/2 inch difference each (I like to do 5.5”, 5”, and 4.5”)

2. Cut 3 pieces of wire about 2 inches bigger than rope

3. Push wire through the entire rope from one end to the other (this will help it hold the rainbow shape)

4. Set the largest piece of rope aside

5. Take your smallest rope and triple tie a knot about a 1/2” up from the end of your rope (we want to leave room for the ends to fray)

6. Wrap your rope with the thread and when you reach the end split the end of the thread in two halves and flip rope over and tie knot to secure.

7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 with middle size rope

8. Cut 4” piece of wire and push wire through bottom of keychain and fold in half

9. Push lava beads down wire towards keychain, do not twist wire to secure

10. Split wire apart and place middle of largest rope

11. Fold wire and twist several times to secure rope

12. Cut wire and fold little bit that hangs up (thread will cover it)

13. Wrap the largest rope with thread (go around the part that attaches it to keychain to cover all of it)

14. Take your two other pieces of rope and press towards large rope and bend together to form a rainbow shape

15. Thread needle and triple knot the end

16. Press needle through the center of the bottom rope and all the way through the center of the middle and top ropes. Cut thread and tripe knot to secure.

17. Thread needle and triple knot the end

18. Press needle through the side of the bottom rope (1/2” up from bottom) and all the way through the middle and top rope. Make sure it goes through the colored thread and not the bottom fray. Cut thread and tripe knot to secure.

19. Repeat steps 17 and 18 on the other side

20. Trim all wire and hanging thread

21. Add a drop of your favorite oil to lava bead and DIFFUSE THE RAINBOW
