Insect Repellent Diffuser Cubes
I love having lunch or dinner outside but those darn mosquitoes love me! Oh yay! So I need to have a little bit of a deterrent every time I go outside! We all know how toxic most candles and wax can be for us right? These diffuser cubes can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container for use all summer long! - Kristina Carter
to make:
4 oz Pure Beeswax
2 T coconut oil
10 drops Eucalyptus Globulus
14 drops Geranium
12 drops Citronella
12 drops Rosemary
Ice cube mold
candle warmer with beeswax tealight
Heat 2 inches of water in a saucepan until boiling. Place the beeswax in a spouted heat safe glass measuring cup and set it in the saucepan. Over medium, stir until the beeswax is melted. (Or melt in the microwave)
Add the coconut oil to the beeswax and stir. Remove the glass and let it cool for 2 or 3 minutes. Add the essential oils, stir, pour into the mold and place in the freezer.
To use, place one cube in the top of a candle diffuser and light it outside. After 10-15 minutes, the wax will start to melt and the oils will start diffusing. If the scent isn't strong enough, add some more Citronella!
You can also use the same oils in a cordless diffuser as well, but sometimes the ambiance of a candle is lovely.
