The Life Changing Magic of Sleep

Let's talk about one of my favorite things, sleep! I love sleep, and it is so crucial for our mental, emotional and physical health!

Our bodies need sleep to function physically, to make decisions, to handle all the day can throw at us! But when sleep is elusive, it can be frustrating.

DEVELOP A ROUTINE

So much of getting a good night's rest is in establishing a routine, even for adults! Here are some tips that have helped us all get a full night's rest in our home:

  • Warm baths or showers, followed by relaxation massage oil and/or lavender lotion for everyone,

  • A drop of oil directly on the chests, on the pillows, sheets or pajamas (make sure to only use clear oils for this!)

  • Diffusing + applying oils

  • Running a ceiling fan, box fan, or sound machine

  • Keep the rooms cool. Your body sleeps better when it has a cooler temperature.

  • Seedlings linen spray or DIY pillow spray with your favorite sleep oils! Gently spray pillows, sheets, blankets.

DIFFUSE

This probably seems like a no brainer, but diffuse your oils every night while you sleep! I love the Desert Mist or Aria diffuser because it's lovely and for the intermittent setting.

Sleep oils (great in combo together!):

  • From the Premium Starter kit - Lavender, Frankincense, Valor, Peace & Calming, Stress Away

  • From the Welcome Home kit - Orange, Lavender, Valor, Frankincense

  • Others - Cedarwood, Northern Lights Black Spruce, Vetiver

  • Release - great for when worry is your companion

APPLY

Grab your oils and apply them to the bottom of the big toe (the nerve endings that connect to the brain end here!)

  • Pre-made rollers: Tranquil, Rutavala (contains Valerian for more oomph!), Peace & Calming.

  • DIY: in a 10mL roller combine a total of 30 drops of any of the oils listed above. Roll onto feet, big toe, and on the chest and wrists before bed.

SUPPLEMENT

For those night when sleep is super elusive, I love Sleep Essence capsules! Sleep Essence combines:

  • Lavender

  • Vetiver

  • Valerian

  • Tangerine

  • Melatonin

Anything I missed? DO you have any favorite oils for great sleep?
