Emotional Education : Holiday Gatherings

Holiday Gatherings can be joyous, wonderful times, but they can also be hard on us mentally, emotionally, and physically. It's often not one person's fault...just the way of things. Throw in a year like 2020 and the need for emotional support around the holiday season is high. Here are some must-haves for just that! -Eryn Jones

Here are some things that can help as we enter into a season of going back home, visiting with old friends, and gathering with those we love.

  1. **Pay attention to your body. ** This is easier for some of us than others, but we all benefit when we are present with our bodies and respect it when it feels uncomfortable. Many times this is because our bodies “keep the score”, or store past, troubling memories in certain parts of our bodies- like for real emotions stored in your liver or your neck- wherever! Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils by Dr. Carolyn Mein is an amazing resource (https://amzn.to/2VGM9RK) to help you find the best oil for your body when you discern where you’re feeling the most emotional discomfort. Also a book called The Body Keeps The Score by Bessel Van Der Kolk is fascinating for more on this! https://amzn.to/31hrd4X

  2. Give yourself permission to take a break and self-care! *Inner Child, Release, SARA, Peace and Calming, Trauma Life, Forgiveness, *and Transformation are all great choices for deep emotional support. Even if your break is to just hide in a closet and take several huffs of one of these oils, you will be doing so much better than if you just kept pushing your body forward!

  3. **You can use your oils to amplify the Good too! Whenever we gather and make good, sweet memories, they are more deeply ingrained if they are paired with your sense of smell! So bust out the Stress Away and Cinnamon while you laugh and play card games, share stories while diffusing your favorite blend! This will enhance the good this Holiday Season!

I know this year many of us will gather less often, but what is your favorite thing to diffuse when you host others?
