Emotional Education : Detoxing & Emotions
EMOTION EDUCATION WEDNESDAY: DETOXING & EMOTIONS
I know when we think of feelings we usually think of them as coming from our minds or our hearts, right? Well, many of our feeling-producing and "regulating emotions" neurotransmitters (fancy word for those chemicals like serotonin and dopamine) are actually in our Guts! About 90% of our bodies serotonin is produced in the gut! AND since serotonin is the master regulator, responsible for so much of our emotional well-being, it would make sense to eat well, right? (and conversely- also makes sense why we crave things like white sugar, sweets, refined things, our kids breakfast cereal ;) It's because these things produce temporary opiates and feel good neurotransmitters in the gut!)
We are spiritual, physical, mental, chemical, emotional beings and everything is connected! I encourage you to try a detox or cleanse if you haven't before as it can positively impact you emotionally.
Here are some things that help me with detoxing and cleansing:
2 drops JuvaCleanse or DiGize vitality in the AM in a veg. capsule + coconut oil to support the gut lining and microbiome
2-4 drops Citrus Fresh vitality in the evening (we detox so much while we sleep and Citrus Fresh is a GREAT detoxifying oil blend)
Taking a walk. One of my favorite health-blogger’s says this about walking: “Walking is my Prozac!” Taking a walk where we are doing low-impact bilateral stimulation (right, left, right, left) can also increase serotonin levels in our bodies.
Self Care: take a bath, give yourself a facial, get a massage- huge serotonin producer!! Epsom Salt Baths are also great detoxing aid.
Drinking extra Ningxia!! Ningxia contains oils that can promote the "happy/ feel good" neurotransmitters in our bodies! And BONUS: tons of antioxidants!
These oils can directly or indirectly help our emotions while detoxing too:
Ocotea, helps with blood sugar-related craving- found in Slique Tea
Copaiba behind the ears for stress
Joy, Peace & Calming II, Valor II, Gathering, Release, or your favorite oil that helps calm you and helps you feel at ease.
Are you doing any kind of New Year changes in your diet? Anyone doing a Whole 30?
