WINTER GLOW

As much as I love wintertime, it usually leaves my skin extra dry. But my winter skin has never been in better shape since I started using some of these Young Living products and DIYs!

  • Slough off dead, dry skin with the Mint Satin Facial Scrub and the Poppy Seed Lip Scrub to keep winter skin healthy and moisturized. Exfoliating also unclogs pores, evens skin tone, and helps other skincare products better penetrate the skin.

  • Use Marjoram! Add a drop to your favorite moisturizer (I love the Sandalwood Cream during the winter) to improve the appearance of dry skin. You can also combine Marjoram + Elemi with jojoba oil and wipe over your face with a cotton round after cleansing.

  • Amp up your moisturizing power by adding an extra oily boost to both the Lavender Bath and Shower Gel and the Lavender Hand and Body Lotion. You can add 6 drops of each of the following oils to both products for extra protection: Geranium, Myrrh, Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang.

  • Help dry, cracked hands and feet by applying Animal Scents Ointment liberally and then covering with cotton socks or gloves. This is most effective when done before bed and allowed to soak into the skin overnight. (Tip: Animal Scents Ointment is very solid. Try whipping it in your stand mixer for a lighter consistency that is easier to spread over skin!)

  • Treat chapped areas on the face and lips with Rose Ointment. Its unique blend is both soothing and moisturizing. On the go? Reach for your Lavender Lip Balm for chapped cheeks!

  • Make this Moisturizing Winter Salve from Lindsey Elmore. It’s packed with ingredients that protect, reduce inflammation, and promote healing of the skin.
    1/4 c olive oil
    3 tbsp coconut oil
    2 tbsp beeswax pellets
    1/2 tsp vitamin E oil
    1/8 tsp vanilla extract
8 drops Northern Lights Black Spruce essential oil
    4 drops Frankincense essential oil
    4 drops Lavender essential oil
Combine olive oil, coconut oil, beeswax, and vitamin E oil in a glass jar. Create a double boiler by pouring a few inches of water in a small saucepan, and carefully set the jar of ingredients in the water. Gently heat the pan over medium-low heat. Once the mixture is completely melted, remove from heat. Add essential oils and vanilla and gently swirl to incorporate. Pour into a small jar. Allow to cool completely and solidify before using.
