Planning Winter Workouts
PLANNING WINTER WORKOUTS
Winter usually means more time indoors in most parts of the country, so here are some tips to staying warm and active this time of year!
SCHEDULE YOUR WORKOUT TIME
Actually putting your workout in the calendar is half the battle! Before the week begins, add it to your planner just as you would any other appointment to make sure it happens.
WHAT TO WEAR
Wear reflective clothing to stay safe if it's dark.
Choose shoes with good traction.
Wear layers that you can remove as soon as you start to sweat.
Be sure to cover your head, hands, feet, and ears.
ALTERNATIVE EXERCISES
Here are some amazing ways to burn a lot of calories while also having a great time:
Building a snowman can burn 285 calories per hour.
Having a snowball fight can burn 319 calories per hour.
Making snow angels can burn 214 calories per hour.
Shoveling snow can burn 340 calories per hour.
STAY WARM
Sweat is a way our body naturally cools itself down. However, if you live in a colder part of the country, be careful that you don't cool down too fast. Instead, head inside to stretch and do the cool down portion of your exercise. Orthosport massage oil is a great option for sore muscles after exercising.
STAY HYDRATED
Even though you may not perspire as much, be sure to continue to drink half your body weight in water throughout the day. A great way to enhance your water is to add a drop of citrus fresh vitality oil to your water bottle.
What's your favorite winter workout? And when's your favorite time to workout?
